Gwennie says hello!

Gwenyth wanted you all to know she is going with mom and dad to Kansas City this weekend for a mission experience with a bunch of 9th grade students. You can follow her on twitter here and the rest of us here.

Pray we all see God at work!

We're back...what just happened!

We've been back in the 515 for just over three days and tonight was my first shot at catching up on social networking and everything else. Needless to say, we missed our little girl very much. It was however, comforting to know that she was in good hands with grandma and grandpa McGregor. Perhaps even a little too good, as Gwenyth cried every time she saw us on skype or heard our voice over the phone.

As we dropped her off, jokes were made that we would hardly recognize our bundle of joy when we returned from our ten day mission trip, but truth be told she has really changed! What once was a slow army drag resulting in carpet burn has moved into a fast and graceful slither across the floor! She now is able to pull herself up on anything. She even is now able to stand on her own two feet for (gasp!) 30 whole seconds without any help!

Missing ten days of my little girl's life has been tough and I am now starting to wonder how I will survive the three week stint I have scheduled for July (two weeks at seminary and a trip to BigStuf camp with Ignition in Panama City, FL). She is such an adorable gal. Don't believe me? I'll just let her do the talking.

In case you were wondering, our mission experience was incredibly blessed and transformative for students and leaders alike. I am hoping to jot down some thoughts, but for now you can check out Ignition Student Ministry's blog here.

The Last Supper...

I love Gwenyth. It is as simple as that. The Lord knew what he was doing when he knit this little whippersnapper together in Heather's womb a year ago. She is absolutely perfect in every way.

It turns out however, Heather and I are headed out on a mission trip tomorrow and Gwen is not able to join us. Instead she is heading up to grandma and grandpa McGregor's for 9 days! We are really going to miss her. As I fed her her lunch today, I couldn't help but think about how Jesus must have felt as he sat down to the table with his dearest friends one last time before heading to the cross. Even with cell phones and skype, there still is no substitute for being in the presence of loved ones. Even though the pics below may not show it, I really enjoyed our quality time today as she giggled, slurped, and hyperventilated her way through our last meal together for the next week and a half.

If you are interested in keeping up with the story that will unfold on our mission trip, I've got a couple options for ya. I will be microblogging here and posting daily updates here. We're hoping to have an incredible time sharing God's love with the Navajo people and we'd love to have you be a part of the process. Hope you are well!

Fun with the Youngs!

Easter weekend started off with a bang for the Hermansons as we traveled to NW Iowa to visit Heather's cousin Betsy and the rest of her family. Needless to say it was an unforgettable experience. Wondering why? Check out these photos!

It was so cool to watch Gwenyth get to know her relatives, even if I got schooled by these crazy youngsters in Mario Kart, playground tag and clue. Hope we can do it again soon!

Here we go again...

That's right, it is time to begin blogging again. I am currently in a two week window between classes at Bethel Seminary and looking at a crazy summer schedule ahead, but I have quickly realized if I do not get into this habit now, I never will. My entire goal with this project was to look back over it with Gwenyth someday and show her how cool her parents were once upon a time and how much we have loved getting to know her. If this is going to work, I need to update it more often.

I snapped this shot of the G-unit today. After spending the entire day in daycare, she apparently has little energy left to share with her parents! I knew parenting was going to be fun, but I can honestly say I've been astounded at the joy Gwenyth has brought to my life. What a keeper! I just hope she still likes us after spending 8 days with grandma and grandpa McGregor while we go on a mission trip!

Finally, I'd like to throw a special shout out to Grant Tjernagel for bugging me about updating this thing. If he is going to check it a couple times a week, I might as well put something on here. Thanks for the inspiration buddy! It was great seeing you at our class reunion!
